Term 4 Week 10
This Friday 16th December is the last day of school for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The staff will be at school for the school development days next Monday and Tuesday, so that they can further familiarise theselves with the new English and Mathematics syllabuses.
As this is the final newsletter for 2022, I would like to thank our wonderful school community for the support and positive and appreciative energy you provide for the children and our school.
Wherever you are travelling, whatever you are doing, I wish all of our families all the best for a safe and happy holiday period.
If you are leaving John Purchase, a big thank you for being part of our school and I wish you every success and happiness.
For those who are returning, I look forward to welcoming you back to another awesome year in 2023!
Stay safe, well and happy and let's all remember to be especially kind and thoughtful, and to find time to rest and recharge the batteries over this busy period!
Staff Update
Mrs Susan Wilson has been working two days per week for a number of years and has made the decision to fully retire. Mrs Wilson is an exceptional educator and friend to many at JPPS and will be greatly missed.
Ms Penelope Fisher joined our school in May this year to fill a maternity leave position until the end of the year. We thank her for her efforts on Year 6 and enthusiastically congratulate her on her promotion as Assistant Principal in the private sector.
Mr Ian Fox - joined our school at the beginning of the year on a twelve month contract and will return to his substantive school. A talented musician, he has led the senior choir program with aplomb. We wish Ian all the best.
Miss Eliza Griggs - joined our school as a graduate teacher towards the end of 2021 and was quickly recognised as a high performing teacher. She has now gained a permanent position at a neighbouring school. This is a very well deserving appointment. Congratulations Eliza!
Miss Chelsea Parker - joined our school at the beginning of 2021 and has been an outstanding teacher on Year 1 for the last two years. She will be relocating to the Blue Mountains and has successfully picked up a position closer to her new home.

Dear Parents and Carers
Year 6 students looked resplendent, as they enjoyed their farewell evening, last week. Many teachers were present to join in the celebration. The venue was beautifully decorated by the parent helpers.
Mrs Musgrove and the Year 6 teachers, Year 6 students and our SASS team, organised an outstanding mini fete, with parent support, last Friday. Thank you to our school community, for supporting Year 6.
STOP PRESS: The Year 6 performance that was impacted by today's storm, will be re-scheduled to this Friday, 16th December, at 2:15pm under the COLA. The traditional 'WALKOUT' for Year 6 students will occur at 2:30pm. Parents are most welcome to attend.
Celebrations of Learning assemblies conclude tomorrow:
Tuesday 13th December 9:10am Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) Celebration of Learning

As this Friday will be the last day for students in 2022, may I extend my very best wishes to all families, for a safe and joyful holiday break.

Happy Holidays!

Our School Expectations
Congratulations to our students who have demonstrated our school expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Aspire.
This week's expectation is:
Aspire: Encourage others to do the right thing
Purchase Pride Badges
Purchase Prides recognise positive student behaviour on the playground and in the classroom. When students receive ten Purchase Pride award cards, these should be left in Mrs King’s ‘award shelf’ in the school administration corridor. The ten awards need to be bundled together and clearly labelled with the student’s name and current class.
Award recipients will be presented with a coloured Purchase Pride Badge, the week after their name is published in this newsletter.
Purchase Pride cards also have a 'tear-off' strip. This strip may be removed by the recipient and placed in the appropriate stage box outside Mrs King’s office, to go in the lucky dip draw for a canteen voucher. Canteen vouchers are drawn by our SRC representatives, at the end of each term.
Please note: The final date for submission of Purchase Pride awards in 2022, was Thursday, 1st December. Students are encouraged to store their awards safely over the holidays, ready for handing in to me, in the new year!
Congratulations to:
Sydney L (3/4B)
Class Awards System
JPPS has an incremental class awards system. When a student has received ten class awards, these should be left on Mrs King’s ‘award shelf’ in the school administration corridor. The ten class awards need to be bundled together and clearly labelled with the student’s name, current class and award level reached. A clear, snap lock bag is ideal for this purpose! Students need to be responsible for their own awards, as replacements are not issued.
10 Class Awards = Bronze 20 = Silver 30 = Gold 40 = Bronze Medallion
50 = Silver Medallion 60 = Gold Medallion 75 = Platinum Medallion and Principal for the Day!
This year, all awards (including Bronze) received by 3pm on Thursday afternoons, are ‘stamped’ and published in the next school newsletter, which is usually on the following Monday. At this time, I indicate when these awards will be presented. Silver Awards, Gold Awards and all Medallions, are usually presented at whole school assemblies. Please note that Bronze Awards are only presented at the end of each term, at the Principal's Morning Tea.
The final K-6 Assembly, for presenting class awards in 2022, was held on Thursday, 24th November. Students in Kindergarten to Year 5, are kindly asked to save any new awards, for submission, until after the holidays. Exceptions will be made for Year 6 students, who will be transitioning to high school in the new year, or a student leaving JPPS at the end of this year.
