STAFF GIFTS - REPEATED
As we approach the end of the school year and the festive season, some families like to give small gifts to their teachers. While this is a lovely gesture, it is certainly not expected. While cards with special messages and other small tokens of appreciation convey thoughtful appreciation, please be advised that Department of Education staff members are unable to accept gifts with a value greater than $50 (unless it is a combined class gift valued at less than this amount per contributor). Staff members must declare and then politely decline gifts greater than this value, as well as any cash or cash vouchers (of any amount).
Thank you for your understanding.
CLASS PLACEMENT CONSIDERATIONS FOR 2023 - REPEATED
(Please complete this form by Tuesday 13 December.)
This form below should only be completed if you would like to share relevant information which may need to be taken into consideration when staff are forming classes for 2023. Please note information sent to the school in previous years or provided to other staff members may not be automatically considered. Circumstances often change, so please resubmit considerations if they continue this year.

Term 4 Week 9
Monday 5th December 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
The Principal's Morning Tea, for Bronze Award recipients, will be held in the hall tomorrow, at 10:30am. Invitations were distributed last week and parents are most welcome to attend. A morning tea for Bronze Medallion recipients, will be held in Mrs Black's office, this Wednesday.
I am looking forward to joining Year 6 students and their teachers, at their farewell dinner, this Wednesday evening. Year 6 staff and students have also been very busy organising the activities for this Friday's mini fete. We are grateful to the Year 6 parents for their support of both of these much-loved events.
Semester 2 student reports will be available from the JPPS Parent Portal, from this Thursday morning, 8th December. Information regarding accessing the portal, is repeated below. Please contact your child's teacher, if you need to discuss the report contents.
Next week, we are hoping that our COLA roof will be ready to accept an audience housed beneath it (following the recent storm, which removed a metal panel). We will send out a notification to parents, if the COLA is not available and our organisation needs to change. Parents and granparents are cordially invited to attend the five special assemblies. I have published next week's programs below, for your convenience.
Dates and times:
Monday 12th December 9:10am Year 6 Graduation Assembly
Monday 12th December 11:30am Stage 2 (Years 3 and 4) Celebration of Learning
Monday 12th December 1:30pm Year 5 Celebration of Learning
Tuesday 13th December 9:10am Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2) Celebration of Learning
Tuesday 13th December 11:30am Early Stage 1 (Kindergarten) Celebration of Learning
We do hope you can attend your child's Celebration of Learning.
Regards
Mrs Adela King
Deputy Principal
Our School Expectations
Congratulations to our students who have demonstrated our school expectations of Respect, Responsibility and Aspire.
This week's expectation is:
Aspire: Bounce back when things don’t go your way
Purchase Pride Badges
Purchase Prides recognise positive student behaviour on the playground and in the classroom. When students receive ten Purchase Pride award cards, these should be left in Mrs King’s ‘award shelf’ in the school administration corridor. The ten awards need to be bundled together and clearly labelled with the student’s name and current class.
Award recipients will be presented with a coloured Purchase Pride Badge, the week after their name is published in this newsletter.
Purchase Pride cards also have a 'tear-off' strip. This strip may be removed by the recipient and placed in the appropriate stage box outside Mrs King’s office, to go in the lucky dip draw for a canteen voucher. Canteen vouchers are drawn by our SRC representatives, at the end of each term.
Please note: The final date for submission of Purchase Pride awards in 2022, was last Thursday, 1st December. Students are encouraged to store their awards safely over the holidays, ready for handing in to me, in the new year!
The Purchase Pride Badges recorded below, will be presented next Monday morning.
Congratulations to:
Jonas x2 (5F), Felipe L (KH), Collin (KH), Arya G (4G), Gemma (1B), Frederick L (2S), Ursula C 6O
Class Awards System
JPPS has an incremental class awards system. When a student has received ten class awards, these should be left on Mrs King’s ‘award shelf’ in the school administration corridor. The ten class awards need to be bundled together and clearly labelled with the student’s name, current class and award level reached. A clear, snap lock bag is ideal for this purpose! Students need to be responsible for their own awards, as replacements are not issued.
10 Class Awards = Bronze 20 = Silver 30 = Gold 40 = Bronze Medallion
50 = Silver Medallion 60 = Gold Medallion 75 = Platinum Medallion and Principal for the Day!
This year, all awards (including Bronze) received by 3pm on Thursday afternoons, are ‘stamped’ and published in the next school newsletter, which is usually on the following Monday. At this time, I indicate when these awards will be presented. Silver Awards, Gold Awards and all Medallions, are usually presented at whole school assemblies. Please note that Bronze Awards are only presented at the end of each term, at the Principal's Morning Tea.
The final K-6 Assembly, for presenting class awards in 2022, was held on Thursday, 24th November. Students in Kindergarten to Year 5, are kindly asked to save any new awards, for submission, until after the holidays. Exceptions will be made for Year 6 students, who will be transitioning to high school in the new year, or a student leaving JPPS at the end of this year.
Bronze Award
These awards will be presented to recipients at the Principal's Morning Tea. This event will be held tomorrow, Tuesday, 6th December at 10:30am. The morning tea will be held in the hall and parents of recipients, are invited to attend.
Invitations were sent home last week.
Silver Award
Congratulations to:
Erum K (3/4B), Ursula C (6O)
Gold Award
These awards have been presented.
Bronze Medallion
The Bronze Medallion morning tea for recipients and Mrs Black and Mrs King, will be held at recess this Wednesday, 7th December.
